Alas, the illustrious photographer was not fast enough to get his camera to the right to follow the beautiful flight of this bird.

  • Ibis exercising. The one-legged stand. Squats next.
  • I see that fish down there!
  • Handsome guy waiting for a mate.
  • Young but alert. Maybe a bug will pass this way.
  • A series of a Black Crowned Night Heron in action.
  • I watched this bird about 5 minutes and then it made a move from straight up to horizontal. Ready to roll!
  • Like the old song...."A little lower now, a little lower now...."
  • As the song goes, "Hey, hey, hey, hey.."
  • Legs at 90 deg. to body. Wings going up. Ready to launch.
  • And with a mighty shove and strong wings it is off. Notice the claws are sticking out .
